" I am so grateful for Kumu Elijah & his expertise on Hawai'i. I've benefited

greatly as a person not from the islands. Learning the history & cultural way of life of Hawaiian people has been profound & eye opening."

WHAT IS A PONO SETTLER ?

In 'olelo Hawai'i (Hawaiian language), pono means "balance, alignment, righteousness" & is often used to describe behavior and characteristics that display responsibility, ethics, and values that respect the harmony of all life.

As it pertains to settlers to Hawai'i, it is vital to understand how to
embody the cultural values of these islands, while respecting the Hawaiian people, Hawaiian
stories, and Hawaiian ways of being.

This course aims to empower foreigners to BE PONO while living in our ancestral homelands.
